
Serials Cataloging: The
Basics



This two-day workshop provides two two-hour sessions on the basic
principles of serials cataloging. Original and copy cataloging for print
and electronic serials using AACR2 and CONSER guidelines will be
examined.
Topics include:
- Definition of a serial
- Descriptive cataloging and MARC tagging of print and electronic
serials
- Copy cataloging workflows
These classes will be conducted online in two parts. Day one will
review descriptive cataloging and MARC tagging of print serials. Day two
will focus on descriptive cataloging and MARC tagging of electronic
serials.

 Audience:
Beginning serials catalogers and technicians and monograph
catalogers working with serials. A basic understanding of the MARC
format is assumed.
